Debre Zeit is one of the most beautiful small towns situated near Addis. I have travelled there twice, sometime 25 years ago. I had a nice experience there, I visited Lake Hora and Bischoftu. To this day I have a clear memory of the visit. I think it may have been created by a meteorite hit. It is so deep and so large it can only be created of by such impact and a circular crater. If it was a volcanic activity there would have been a sign of molten rock in the immediate surroundings.

The orphanage is run by the Debre Zeit Kale Heywet Church and The Ethiopian KHC HQ. Initially Mr. Bruce and Norene Bond (SIM NZ) envisioned it and started the work in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Many orphans have been raised and are being raised here.
